Shifting as the tidal waves,
I begin to realize not to take things around me for granted. Cherish the moments and hold on to thoughts that define me. In my younger years I was careless of my mom’s family passed down heirlooms. The traditional customs were sometimes frustrating, because there are mostly no explanations or written rules. You follow and no questions asked. Local jewelry back then was not as valuable as gold and silver. Now, I’m regretting not appreciating the hard work and time it took to make a unique locally made jewelry. From an small island almost everyone knows your business that it becomes overwhelming. Today, living 3,000 plus miles away it’s impossible to visit anytime I wish. Nowadays, I come across any artifact of an island it reminds me of my island home Palau.
Within the site is my printing venture. Growing up my dad had his screen prints and heat press projects all over his work room and my mom’s sewing area on one side (we called the stockroom). Walking in the smell of paints, fabrics, and paper copies. My favorite part, was the air-conditioner is always on. Ask anyone from the islands back then that was a rarity.
For me, to be honest I never dreamt of practicing it someday. Now I started doing my kids prints, it has opened an artistic and mind-writing part of myself that I’m excited about. My girls are in love with clothes and designs. I know we can all relate.
As I was establishing my printing journey I was in search of something I would put on and it gives me a feel good vibe with my identity. A continuous message of Love, Kindness, and all things Beautiful. Lastly, with a heavy touch of Island Vibes! As my Island brothers and sisters are very generous with a huge heart. https://islanderoutlook.com
In addition is my interest of cooking our island local dishes. Assuming aging, I have grown more interested in eating and making local food that are passed down from my mother. Every time I would always have to ask her when I’m craving to eat our Palauan local dish. Then, I realize she will not be around someday and I need to remember the recipes for my memory. I’m going to try my best to share her ways of cooking Palauan delicacy. And if someone has a different method please do share.
Other than my mom’s cherished recipes, head on down to the Kitchen Island tab to see more food inspiration from my very own two brothers. They have amazing cooking skills with array of varieties of dishes from all over the World. They will accommodate your cravings and catering needs. Please reach out through the Contact tab. https://islanderoutlook.com/kitchen-island/
Furthermore, I’m going to share my work and ideas that could be relevant and helpful. It maybe a dish I learned and can still find ingredients here in Missouri, or styles and decorations ideas that one would be interested in. Thoughts that are interesting and meaningful. I’m open to any ideas that you would like to share or add please let me know through my Contacts.
